NCSAA Update

As always, the most important priority at NCSAA is the safety and the well-being of our student-athletes and families. As the novel Coronavirus (or COVID-19) continues to impact the world, we wanted to release a statement regarding the Spring season.

We have been in constant contact with the Academica, our partner schools, local municipalities, facility providers, as well as the Southern Nevada Health District. We are taking this situation very seriously. As of now, we have postponed ALL NCSAA Spring Sports (Soccer, Boys Volleyball, Track and Cheerleading) until April 14th.  During and after that time, we will reassess the situation we’re facing.   We are monitoring the spread of this virus 24 hours a day and are taking precautionary steps to prepare for a temporary postponement if necessary. We will continue to proceed with an abundance of caution and update our participants with any changes that may arise. Please be aware this a fluid situation and could change at any time.

We would like to reiterate everyday preventive actions that should be taken:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water when hands are visibly dirty.

As mentioned previously, we will be monitoring this situation extremely close and will continue to be updated by schools as they progress through their recommendations.

Thank you for your patience as we all handle this potential threat together. We can’t wait to get back to playing sports and letting the youth do what they love!
